P&G Korea Employees Help Carry Olympic Torch

With just days to go until the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, excitement is building across the P&G world. One particular site played a momentous role on January 6, serving as a team to help carry the Olympic torch across the country.

The PyeongChang 2018 flame is nearing the completion of its journey. The Olympic torch had hit the halfway mark on its cross-country trek when it received a truly special welcome by P&G Korea employees in Suwon.

Torchbearers included P&G’s Asia-Pacific Region President Magesvaran Suranjan (pictured below, right) and Hyunju Jeon (pictured below, left), a Product Supply employee who had won a P&G Korea walkathon competition. The walkathon challenge had helped build anticipation surrounding the games and promote fitness through our Vibrant Living employee wellness program.

"I had a wonderful time here with the Korea team," Suranjan said. "It is amazing to have a chance to be part of a historical event of the PyeongChang Olympics. These Olympics are momentous for us. With the partners that we have in the region and great colleagues, we all come together as part of the first of three Olympics in Asia."

The Olympic torch relay began on November 1, kicking off the 100-day countdown to the PyeongChang Olympics, when the flame landed at Incheon International Airport. The torch relay in South Korea is designed to cover 2,018 kilometers, commemorating the staging year of the PyeongChang Olympics.

Jeon, walkathon winner, felt moved by her site’s enthusiasm and cheers from the sidelines. “It was a great honor to be a torchbearer for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.” It was an experience she won’t soon forget.
