Our New Hyderabad Plant Is Off to a Remarkable Start

Last year, P&G broke ground on a new manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Hyderabad, India—a thriving metropolis that’s also home to Google and Microsoft’s India operations.

From early on, our recruiting teams encountered tremendous obstacles to secure the very best talent for the plant. Some of the local laws restricted women from working certain shifts.

So our plant leaders worked tirelessly with the local government to change the laws that placed these restrictions on women. By providing education to local families, implementing safety procedures and securing transportation options, we’re pleased to report that 30% of the people we hired to work at the Hyderabad Plant are women.

Now fully operational since its Grand Opening ceremony on September 9, the Hyderabad Plant is one of P&G’s largest plants in Asia.

Its impressive completion date also set a P&G record for the time it took to build, with less than 24 months under construction. And among its many innovative firsts in the world of fabric care manufacturing, it’s on its way to become the first dry laundry plant to earn LEED SILVER certification.

Hyderabad Plant employees have already partnered with various social programs including medical camps, blood donation drives and school-building activities in more rural areas around Hyderabad to touch lives in those surrounding communities.

This is only the beginning. With all it has already accomplished as P&G’s “youngest” plant, Hyderabad is a model for P&G leadership, innovation and citizenship. Its thriving community of women and men are excited to be its agents of change, creating more value for Asian consumers and improving lives in the heart of the Hyderabad community.

We can’t wait to see what the future holds!
